To say this car was a pile of junk when I got it is an understatement! Steve Fruge did a fantastic job restoring the abandoned classic! He did all of the mechanical and body repair as well as the painting. I did all of the corking. It took me nearly a year to complete, about 1,100 hours and over 1,900 corks. The time consuming process involved carefully shaping and gluing thousands of corks into place with precision detail, but was well worth it. In my humble opinion it turned out a masterpiece! Whenever I tell someone I’ve covered a car with wine corks, my tagline is “Whatever you’re thinking, it’s better!”
The little corked Isetta was a hit! The 2012 Kansas City International Auto Show was the first car show I took it to and my corked classic was the feature attraction. Soon after that I won “Best in Class” and “Top Pick” at the 2012 Angel Foundations Angels, Hotrods and Hogs charity event at the AutoMotorPlex. That was it! I was hooked on exhibiting at car shows and now every summer I sign up for as many car shows as Bonnie will allow me to attend!
